Make Money From Home

If you follow this blog at all you know that I am always looking for two things: A good deal and a way to make money from home in my "spare" time.  This page is dedicated to the latter.  I will update regularly to keep you informed as to which opportunities are working out and which opportunities fizzle out.  Is there something you'd like to see reviewed here?  Just send me an email at kayla@clothdiaperadventurer.com

Twitter/Blog Advertising

MyLikes - This has been the best for me in this category.  All you need is a Twitter account and a PayPal account.  After you sign up you will find a list of sponsors with their logo, name, brief description of what they are wanting you to advertise for them, and how much they are willing to pay per click.  You go through the MyLikes website to write and post your tweet and you can see the money start rolling in as you receive clicks on your tweet.  You can also choose to "Like" anything through the MyLikes website and the amount of money you can make per click goes up based on the popularity of your tweets.  They payout on Fridays and the only requirement is that you have accumulated $2 in your MyLikes account.  They will automatically transfer these funds to your PayPal account.
Quick Thoughts:
The Good: Low Payout threshold, Easy-to-use, Can be used with your blog and facebook accounts also, good referral program
The Bad: Takes some time to get really good sponsors.
Best for: Someone who is just starting out or doesn't have a lot of twitter followers.
Worth it?: Yes!

SponsoredTweets - This is the only other Twitter advertising service that has made me any money.  You may or may not have Sponsors at any given time.  They will send you a direct message or an email when there is a sponsor.  For my low numbers of followers (just over 200) I have only made about $0.20 through this site over the course of six months.  This program CAN work, but you need to have significantly more followers than I currently have. The payout threshold is $50 which, at the rate I'm going, will take 42 months.
Quick Thoughts:
The Good: No need to check the site constantly as they will send you a message when there is an advertiser wishing to sponsor you, good referral program
The Bad: Higher payout threshold, Takes some time to get good sponsors, Harder to make any real money if you don't have a lot of followers.
Best for: Someone who has a lot of Twitter followers.
Worth it?: Maybe

AdSense - This is an advertising service that anyone who surfs the web has probably seen in action.  It is extremely easy to set up on a Blogger blog but a little trickier on other blogs or websites.  Brought to us by the wonderful people at Google it is a great idea in theory, but a little less wonderful in practice.  Think of it this way: When you go to someone's blog and you see text ads with the words "Ads by Google" in small print at the top or bottom you pretty much glaze over them and never even really see what they say.  By using AdSense you will be getting this kind of ad on your site.  Because a lot of people (I think) feel the way I do about these ads (they don't really bother me, but I don't really care about them and I very rarely click one) these aren't likely to get you much money.  I do really like and am looking forward to using their search engine feature.  I will update to let you know how that goes.
Quick Thougts:
The Good: Easy to use, doesn't offend most people
The Bad: Doesn't grab attention... or clicks
Best for: Someone with a large blog following
Worth it?:  Sure!  It can't hurt.

Amazon Associates - I like the potential that this program has.  Again, it is very easily used with a Blogger blog but only slightly more difficult on other blogs or websites.  It pays a percentage of any sale that comes through links on your site.  It's very easy to use to insert pictures and links of products you are writing about on your blog. I haven't made any money with it yet, but again, I like the potential.
Quick Thoughts:
The Good: Easy to use, helpful for pictures and links even if you don't make money off of it.
The Bad: I have yet to make any money with it.
Best for: Anyone who would like to include pictures and/or links to products on their blog or website.
Worth it?: For the money alone? Maybe.  For other reasons? Yes!

Online Surveys

Lightspeed Consumer Panel - The survey site I have made the most money from.  They send you emails about surveys that you may be eligible for.  Sure, you sometimes get 5 minutes into the survey and find out you aren't eligible (you can reduce this by responding promptly) but when you do get through a survey you get a lot of "points" for it.  Your points add up in an account and when you accumulate enough points you can purchase items through their online store.  Some of the items include e-gift certificates including $5, $10, $15 or $20 deposited into your paypal account.
Quick Thoughts:
The Good: Easy to use, you don't have to sign in unless you get an email about a survey, High payout for surveys completed, entered into a $5,000 drawing if you don't qualify for the survey
The Bad: You may get 5 minutes or more into a survey and not qualify, however, it has the lowest rate of this I've ever experienced. No referral program.
Best for: Someone looking to make a little extra cash who is willing to spend a couple of hours a week online filling out surveys.
Worth it?: Yes!
MyView - Another survey site that has actually paid out for me.  When you sign up with MyView and complete 5 surveys within a given time limit, they will give you a $25 Restaurant.com Gift Certificate OR 5000 extra MyView Points that you can use toward other great rewards.  It took me about two weeks to qualify for the bonus and now Hubby and I will have a date for our anniversary despite our limited funds!  Not to mention the reward points I got for completing each individual survey that are still in my account! MyView rewards include charity donations and Visa gift cards among others.
The Good: Easy to use.  Does not require constant logging on to the site.  Tends to give you a few points for starting the survey and about 10 times that number of points for qualifying and completing the survey so you don't come away empty-handed just because you didn't qualify for a particular survey.
The Bad: No referral program.
Worth it? Yes!
